Japanese
knotweed has become a major problem on a lot of developments in the UK.
Knotweed is a tall perennial plant which was introduced to in the early
1800's as an ornamental garden plant.
It grows at
a rate of several metres a year and can cause structural damage especially
to paths and tarmac. New shoots will push to the surface, even though
the roots are buried one metre deep.
Eradication
of Knotweed can only be achieved by total root removal for either off
site or on site burial or intensive chemical treatment.
Acer carry
out treatment of Japanese knotweed for a number of clients either as part
of the landscaping package or a separate item. |
